#lategramIt's always refreshing to reconnect with one's roots. As much as i enjoy experiencing other cultures there is nothing like the feeling of going back to the comfortably known. To me, Navratri evokes fond memories of childhood, whether it was hopping from place to place, setting up the Golu, or creating various themes. I still remember the joy i’d feel just at the mention of the delicious food, new outfits, and the happiness about catching up with friends and family. Despite the appeal of global cuisines and diverse dishes, sometimes our hearts long for the simplicity of traditional fare.So when Dr. Vinaya from Mercy Heart Hospital reached out to us to create some authentic South Indian festive cuisine for her department, it felt heaven sent. We prepared a simple Satvik meal, free from heavy spices, garlic, and onion..keeping it as original as possible. It was a huge hit and we knew that we made the right choice after all!Our uncomplicated menu was made up of subtle yet delightful flavors such as;* Lemon Rice* Rasam * South Indian Potato Curry * Chickpea Sundal * Kesari * Kuzhi Dosa* Assortment of Laddus The meal was further enhanced thanks to Dr. Vinaya sharing stories about the festivities and celebrations, she reminisced about her childhood memories—the joy of arranging the steps, visiting different homes, and savoring a variety of lentil dishes—bringing a sense of nostalgia.The doctors quite enjoyed what we brought to the table especially after they found out that each dish was crafted with just 3-4 ingredients, the history behind it as well as the tradition that co-existed.
